NIXON
Fresh new music artist Nixon is of no relation to the 37th U.S president but has the hard-hitting sound and smart rhymes to soon be the residing president of the Top 40 charts.
Hailing from the small Detroit suburb Romeo, Michigan (hometown of Kid Rock), Nixon knew at just 8-years-old that he wanted to be a rapper when he heard his older brother’s Tupac album Me Against The World.
After many years of writing and trying to catch a break in Michigan Nixon made the move to New York City to further his music career. His very first day in the Big Apple Nixon was discovered by top modeling agency Click; Nixon signed hoping it would provide an income while he pursued his real dream of becoming a recording artist.
In January 2010 Nixon was cast as an extra in a music video for pop artist Killian Wells. After the shoot Nixon gave Wells a demo he’d recorded with Calvin Miller (producer of the multi-platinum single “Pop, Lock, and Drop It” by Huey). “I honestly expected it to suck” recalls Wells “I was shocked to hear his rhymes are clever and his delivery is better than a majority of the rappers out there.” In August 2011 Wells signed Nixon to his label Inferno Records.
With a mainstream sound similar to Pitbull, Nixon cites Eminem, LMFAO, and Mac Miller as major influences. “Music is my passion but my real dream is to steal Katy Perry from Russell Brand,” says Nixon.
Nixon is currently working on his debut studio album slated for release in 2012.
